Sacramento Peach Cobbler

What would August be without an honest to goodness Sacramento Peach Cobbler? These peaches are fresh from Hooverville Farms in El Dorado County. You can find Chris Hoover on Sundays at the the Under the Freeway Farmers Market in Sacramento.
Peach Cobbler
He'll have a few copies of this cobbler recipe with him, but you will have to ask for it. You will love this cobbler made with real butter, real vanilla and a mix of ZeeRed and Alberta peaches.
(Serves 6 - 8)

Peach Cobbler Recipe
- Pour 3 Tbl. Melted butter into bottom of 7 x 11” baking pan.
- Place 3 lb. Sliced peaches into pan.
- Pour batter over peaches.
- Sprinkle streusel on top.
- Bake 375 degrees, approximately 40 minutes, until batter is set.

Cobbler Batter:
- 1 C flour
- 3/4 to 1 C sugar, depending on sweetness of fruit
- 1/8 tsp. Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 tsp. Baking powder
- 3/4 C milk
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- Sift dry ingredients together. By hand, whisk in milk and vanilla till just blended. Pour over peaches in baking pan.

Streusel:
- 1/2 C flour
- 1/4 C brown sugar
- 1/3 C butter
- 1/4 C oats (optional)
- 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
Combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut butter in until mixture is crumbly. Mix in oats. Sprinkle over peaches and batter.
