Project/Activity Grants (PAG) Program
GENERAL AWARD CRITERIA
The Committee will consider advancing Project/Activity Grant
requests for funding if:
- The need for funding is established and clearly documented in the written proposal;
- The proposal is complete and it clearly indicates careful planning, an ability to implement and complete the initiative, and specific responsibility for project/activity success;
- The project/activity is relevant to and provides significant support for the University mission while promoting the positive image of Sacramento State and University Enterprises, Inc.;
- The project/activity directly or indirectly provides for the greatest impact to Sacramento State students, faculty, and staff and the campus community; and,
- All reporting requirements for previously funded projects have been completed.
Please note: Applicants are strongly encouraged to utilize whenever possible the dining, copying and other professional services provided by UEI when considering vendors for their projects.
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA AND WEIGHTING
Campus/Project Impact Fund
Preference may be given when applicants establish that the proposal is consistent with division priorities and goals and when applicants establish that general fund dollars cannot be used for the proposed activity. Applicants are strongly encouraged to have a VP, Dean or Chair provide a letter or email of support confirming the significance of the proposed project/activity vis-à-vis the mission or goals of the department or unit. The relative weight given to Campus/Project Impact Fund proposals is generally as follows, although the PAG Review Committee reserves the right to alter its balance of the criteria weighting when circumstances warrant.
- 55% Potential impact on the campus community
- 25% Clarity of proposal writing, rationale and documentation
- 20% Feasibility of the proposed activity and anticipated use of resources
New Initiatives Fund
Projects which correlate directly to priorities identified in the University’s Strategic Plan (may apply for funding across two fiscal years with a maximum per project of $10,000. In addition, student research projects, conducted in close collaboration with a faculty member, which advance the body of knowledge within a college or department and which may include presentations at conferences or visible engagement with the community, are eligible for maximum funding up to $2,000 subject to the above guidelines.

- 30% Originality and potential impact on the campus community
- 25% Level of student involvement and impact on learning
- 25% Clarity of proposal writing, rationale and documentation
- 20% Feasibility of the proposed activity and anticipated use of resources.
The PAG Committee cannot consider the following:
- Requests submitted after the due date or activities which take place prior to the award of funds;
- Requests for commencement-related expenses;
- Requests that are self-serving or of benefit to only special interest groups or persons;
- Requests for personnel services, assigned time, honoraria, or travel;
- Requests to support or oppose any issue before the voters of the state or any subdivision thereof, or any city, municipality or local governmental entity of any kind;
- Requests for personal or institutional loans; or,
- Requests for computers, related hardware and software, or components to build a computer.
