Sacramento State will increase its visibility with the addition of a digital sign to be installed late April. The digital sign, to be built by Clear Channel Outdoors, will be located on Folsom Boulevard and visible to travelers on Highway 50.
The project is possible through an agreement with University Enterprises, Inc. and Clear Channel Outdoor, with the endorsement of the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans. All design and construction costs are the full responsibility of Clear Channel.
The 14-foot by 48-foot lighted message board will display eight messages per 64 seconds; seven of them will be commercial advertising provided by Clear Channel, and the eighth will display selected Sacramento State news and events.
The California Highway Patrol and Caltrans will also use the sign to display traffic-related and emergency messages, including Amber Alerts.
The sign will feature state of the art technology, with illumination levels no more than that of a standard billboard. The display brightness is measured every 2-3 seconds, and every 30 seconds, the sign will automatically adjust to ambient light and weather conditions.
