Sacramento State's New Digital Sign

| Sacramento State increased its visibility in Sacramento with the addition of a digital sign which became operational on August 5th. The digital sign was built by Clear Channel Outdoors. It is located on Folsom Boulevard and is visible to travelers on Highway 50. The project is possible through an agreement with University Enterprises, Inc. and Clear Channel Outdoor, with the endorsement of the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans. All design and construction costs are the full responsibility of Clear Channel.
The California Highway Patrol and Caltrans will also use the sign to display traffic-related and emergency messages, including Amber Alerts. The sign features state of the art technology, with illumination levels no more than that of a standard billboard. The display brightness is measured every 2-3 seconds, and every 30 seconds the sign automatically adjusts to ambient light and weather conditions. |

The 14-foot by 48-foot lighted message board displays eight messages per 64 seconds; seven of which are commercial advertising provided by Clear Channel. The eighth message displays selected Sacramento State news and events. |
