Sustainability

Sometimes a difficult term to pin down, "sustainable development", broadly stated, is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In terms of building a Village, it means incorporating enhanced energy efficiency, using construction materials and processes that do not harm the environment or consume irreplaceable resources, creating economic benefit, and providing social and cultural opportunities that enrich the lives of Village residents and the entire community.  Virtually every statement within these pages describes attributes of things and processes that contribute to sustainability.
